Mother Mentor-Male Champion Workshop, Friday 21, 2026.

Mother Mentor Program program is one of the HIV Program components that provide support for Prevention of Parent-to-Child Transmission (PPTCT), Facilitates triple elimination testing for HIV, Syphilis, and Hepatitis B and supports Early Infant Diagnosis (EID) for HIV-Exposed Infants (HEI).

Modules: Eliminating Vertical HIV Transmission

      Intervention: Support PPTCT, triple elimination testing (HIV, Syphilis, and Hepatitis B), and Early Infant Diagnosis (EID) for HIV-Exposed Infants (HEI).

      MM Program – Supported Activities

      The following activities are implemented under this program to strengthen maternal and child health outcomes and reduce vertical transmission of HIV:

      Activity 1: Mentor Mother Support and Guidance

      Mother Mentors / Team Leads provide comprehensive support, guidance, counseling, and care to HIV-positive mothers throughout key stages, including: Pregnancy, Triple elimination testing (HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B), Initiation of Antiretroviral Therapy (ART), including Registration and follow-up for Early Infant Diagnosis (EID) for HIV-Exposed Infants (HEI).

      Activity 2: Monitoring, Tracking, and Escort Services

      Mentor Mothers monitor, track, guide, and physically escort HIV-positive pregnant mothers to ensure access to essential services, including: – Antenatal Care (ANC)
      – Delivery (labor)
      – Early Infant Diagnosis (EID)
      – Referrals to appropriate health services
      – Other maternal and child health services
      – Partner testing
      – Tracing and re-engagement of Lost-to-Follow-Up (LTFU) cases

      Activity 3: Field Support and Health Facility Coordination

      Mentor Mothers provide field-level support by serving as liaisons between the community and health facilities. This includes: – Supervisory support
      – Coordination with ANC teams
      – Monitoring of Mentor Mother activities
      This activity is implemented across six (6) selected health facilities in the National Capital District (NCD).

      Activity 4: Support for HIV-Exposed Infants (HEI)

      Dedicated support is provided to HIV-Exposed Infants throughout all phases of Early Infant Diagnosis (EID), ensuring timely testing, results delivery, and linkage to appropriate care.

      Activity 5: Retention Support for Pregnant and Breastfeeding Women

      Retention efforts are strengthened both at the facility and community levels to ensure that pregnant and breastfeeding women living with HIV remain engaged in care throughout the continuum—from antenatal visits through postnatal follow-up.

      Activity 6: Promotion of Male Involvement

      The program actively promotes and encourages male involvement through targeted interventions, including the engagement of “Male Champions” to support their partners’ health journeys and increase uptake of testing and treatment services among men.

      Progressive Updates on Pregnant Women Accessing Mother Mentor (MM) Services

      As of the reporting period from March 2025 to May 2026, a total of 219 HIV-positive pregnant women have been cared for and supported by Mother Mentors across designated facilities.
